Suspected Illegal Bowling Action Policy & Guidelines

Statutory Tournament Regulation

Standardized procedure for reporting, scrutinizing, and biomechanically evaluating bowling actions exceeding the permissible 15-degree elbow extension limit.

Codified Articles & Clauses

:

A bowling action is deemed legal if the bowler's elbow joint does not extend by more than 15 degrees from the moment the bowling arm reaches horizontal until the release of the ball.

If both on-field umpires or the TV umpire suspect a bowler's action, they must submit an official Match Officials' Report to the Match Referee within 2 hours of match conclusion.

Upon the first report, the bowler and team management receive official footage. The player may continue bowling for 14 days pending laboratory assessment at an accredited biomechanics center.

If scientific analysis confirms an elbow extension exceeding 15 degrees, or upon a second formal reporting during the tournament, the player is suspended from bowling in all tournament fixtures until cleared.

Suspended bowlers may undergo remedial coaching with certified RDCA/MPCA bowling consultants before applying for independent re-testing.
